Architect La Project.
When we design houses, we always think about people who will live in them. People whose dreams, memories and traditions will fill the walls with warmth and cosiness. Families who will gather around the same table.
When our client contacted us, he said straight away: ‘I need a house for my family to live in. Big. Noisy. True. A house that will become a family nest, where children will grow up, where several generations will gather around the same table, where there will be photos on the walls and marks from children's bicycles and dog paws in the courtyard’.
We know it's not easy to design a house like this. You have to feel it. That's why we announced an architectural contest. Three masters, three different visions, three ideas. The winner was Fabiano Vidussi, an Italian architect with a worldwide recognition. His project combined everything that was important to our client: warmth, traditions, spaciousness, nature and technologies.
‘Armadda’ is a 1400 square metres two storey barnhouse style home. This house has grown on the bank of the river, and it stands literally towards to the water. Panoramic windows, terraces, balconies - everything here is subordinated to the main idea of connecting the house with nature.
The main kitchen-lounge room overlooks straight to the river. Breakfast at sunrise, dinner at sunset - time flows differently here. The client wanted a place to gather friends and family around a long table - so we made an outdoor terrace, hidden from the wind, so that nothing would disturb those warm evenings.
The house is made for a family and you can feel it in every detail.
On the first floor there are a large kitchen-lounge room with access to the terrace, a bar, a hidden technical kitchen for the staff, a workroom, a library, five children's rooms, because the owner has five children. A guest bedroom, a technical room with a dog's paws washer - because there are three dogs in the house, and they are also part of the family.
Upstairs there are a master bedroom with an amazing river view, a large wardrobe for all of the owners sports equipment, an 8 seats movie theatre and a billiard room.
This man can't imagine himself without water and activities. He's a fisherman. A hunter. A sportsman. And his home represents his rhythm of life. His own pier. His own boat. He can leave a house, go down to the river and go fishing in the morning. And then come back and grill fish, because there's an outdoor kitchen in the courtyard.
This house is modern and energy efficient. The facades are clad in natural wood, which only gets more beautiful over the years. The standing seam roof will withstand all the vagaries of nature.
The most important is this house was made for a family. This house is a history. And we know how to create them.
