SANKARI is an architecture where the landscape lives
SANKARI is the nature itself — a comfortable space created for you. We placed the house in the landscape so that it became a part of it. This is a philosophical project by Lumi Polar, where nature is the main author, and architecture is a subtle instrument allowing a person to become part of this dialogue.
We don’t create houses — we create a View and a Way of Life. The whole point of the house is a view. Its architecture is integrated into the landscape through thoughtful placement and large panoramic windows. From the second floor an amazing view opens, and nature becomes a part of the interior.
Architecture and Technology: the flawless standard
The house frame is built using a hybrid technology combining Finnish non-settling log Nord Cross, concrete columns, and steel beams — a true breakthrough meeting unique Finnish standards, ensuring absolute stability, strength, beauty, and durability.
We deliberately decided not to use hidden parapets and internal drainage systems. Our external drainage system is a Finnish standard of reliability: it completely eliminates the risk of hidden leaks, guaranteeing roof durability for centuries ahead.
Picture windows, a Finnish roofing membrane, and facades of larch planken complete the image of benchmark quality, fully aligned with the laws of nature.
Seamless unity with nature is achieved not only by large windows but also through our foundation engineering solutions. The terraces in Lumi Polar houses are the result of complex engineering calculations and proper insulation following Finnish standards. We create monolithic sandwich constructions with complete thermal insulation — forming a seamless, insulated cocoon that completely prevents the house from freezing.
The Philosophy of the View
The idea of moving the main living space upstairs was born from the desire to live within the landscape. The airy living room, with its 5.2-meter-high ceiling and a floating fireplace, combined with the dining area, is flooded with light.
Through panoramic glazing, sliding window-walls, and a ceiling skylight, the architecture acts as a unified system that maximizes natural light and literally blurs the boundary between the interior and the forest.
In summer, when windows are opened, a unique effect occurs: the interior space and terraces over three meters wide merge into one, while fresh air and landscape become parts of your living room. The second-floor terrace is also divided by architectural openings to let natural light beautifully flow into the house.
You find yourself indoors — yet with a full sense of open-air living. This is the highest form of harmony with the environment, made possible by Lumi Polar’s modern technologies.
The master suite with a private terrace is a safe harbor, hovering among the treetops.
Harmony of Privacy and Possibility
Embedded into the slope of the hills, the first floor creates a sense of protection. Here you’ll find children’s bedrooms, an office, and a multifunctional play area. Today it’s a space for kids, but tomorrow it can easily be transformed into a SPA complex, all necessary wiring is already installed. A well-thought-out infrastructure, a staff apartment, elevator, and a garage, ensures high comfort.
Flawless Interiors
The interior concept was created by the renowned Italian designer Fabiano Vidussi. Walls finished in noble oak veneer create a deep, tactile atmosphere with excellent sound insulation. The kitchen was designed and crafted from Lumi Polar sketches in the workshops of L’Ottocento — a brand synonymous with exceptional quality and refined Italian style.
Key highlights of the floor include a custom-designed staircase that functions as a sculptural art object and a hanging fireplace of a unique design. The furniture feature iconic brands that are synonymous with the highest standards: Baxter with its exclusive leathers, the impeccable minimalism of Poliform, the timeless classics of Poltrona Frau, sculptural pieces by Henge, and the elegant simplicity of Flexform.
This interior doesn’t compete with nature, but enhance its flawless beauty.
Landscape: The Art of Being Invisible
SANKARI is hidden among hills and green hedges, while terraces and garden paths softly blur the boundary between architecture and nature. Thoughtful lighting accentuates the terrain, transforming the site into a personal luxury resort.
SANKARI is the embodiment of Lumi Polar’s philosophy — a house where architecture goes along the landscape, interiors depend on light and views, and technologies serve comfort and durability. It is a model of life in harmony with nature, without compromise in quality. A house where you acquire not just square meters — but a View and a Way of Life.
